Celebrate with us at Trafalgar Square during National Air Ambulance Week
Friday 21st September 2012
From 24th to 30th September, we will run a week of entertainment and fundraising with medical demonstrations on ‘dummies’ and artistic performances right in front of The National Gallery. So far, London’s Air Ambulance could only be seen at Trafalgar Square in cases of medical emergency. During National Air Ambulance Week, our red routemaster will become one of Trafalgar’s landmarks and will accommodate the celebrations of our life-saving charity.
When: 24th - 30th September, 11am - 6pm
Throughout the week of 24th - 30th September, Trafalgar Square will witness medical procedures being performed on mannequins by our doctors and paramedics, as well as shows from artists supporting our charity.
Contemporary dance performances at the beginning of the week will be replaced by medical demonstrations from our off-duty staff, followed by a street art show, by the infamous Graffiti Kings, on Wednesday and further dance gigs at the end of the week.
On Friday 28th September, Trafalgar Square will become a platform and main meeting spot for the our new initiative - ‘Wear Red Day’. On the day, signature colour of our helicopter will become a dress code for all Londoners willing to support us. More than eighty organisations have already committed to wear red to offices and schools all over London.
Dr Gareth Davies, Chair and Medical Director of London’s Air Ambulance, said “London’s Air Ambulance treats over 2,000 seriously injured patients per year but the majority of Londoners still do not know we exist or that we are a charity. By joining together with all the air ambulance charities in England and Wales, we are hoping National Air Ambulance Week will be a platform to raise awareness within the community we serve 24/7.”
This event is designed to raise awareness about our charity and help us raise money for a second helicopter. It is a part of National Air Ambulance Week, an initiative put together by the Association of Air Ambulances (‘AAA’), the trade body which unites Air Ambulance charities from across the country.
