Lord Mayor's Show 2012
Monday 12th November 2012
On Saturday 10th November, we took part in the Lord Mayor's Show, the annual parade that marked the inauguration of the 685th Lord Mayor of the City of London. Our staff, ex-patients and volunteers walked alongside 6,500 participants, including the new Lord Mayor, Alderman Roger Gifford, and Olympic gold medallist Jessica Ennis. The London’s Air Ambulance float enabled the crowd of over 500,000 (and millions more throughout the world) to visualise what our service is all about, .
The London’s Air Ambulance float ‘narrated’ the story of Kim Bowler. Kim, who was helped by our service in October 2009, had her survival story featured in three scenes on the back of the London's Air Ambulance float. Scene one was based on the day when Kim was crossing the Cromwell Road and was tragically hit by a car. Scene two was based on our doctors and paramedics who were at her side within minutes performing life-saving procedures on her and scene three was Kim Bowler with our helicopter mascot, Ruby Rescue. Kim said, " I might not have been here at the Lord Mayor's Show today, or at all, if it wasn't for London's Air Ambulance."
We would like to thank everyone who took part on the day and to the millions of others who showed their support on the streets.
