Our Charity’s Partnership with Saracens F.C. Launches at Derby Day
Monday 10th April 2017
We are thrilled to announce that our new three year partnership with Saracens F.C. officially kicked-off at Derby Day on Saturday 8th April.
Thanks to an invitation from Saracens and Allianz, we were able to spread our message to more than 71,000 people gathered at Wembley stadium for the rugby match between Saracens and Harlequins. A whole new audience now knows that we are a charity, which relies on public donations.
The day started with an on-pitch interview with one of our patients. Nearly a year ago to the day, Yair was knocked off his bike and run over as he cycled home to his young family. Without our supporters, Yair would never have received treatment from our advanced trauma team and he may not be here today. His family watched from the side-lines as Dr Simon Walsh, the very same doctor who treated Yair in his time of need, conducted the interview and helped Yair share his story.
The pre-match programme continued with a performance from Louisa Johnson as our pilots flew over Wembley to say thank you to Saracens, Allianz and all those who support us. Our London’s Air Ambulance family - made up of pilots, paramedics, doctors, charity staff and Yair’s children and wife - then took to the pitch with a banner displaying our charity’s logo and messaging.
With the crowd then settled and ready for the game, Yair delivered the ball for kick-off and returned to join his children by the London’s Air Ambulance banner.
Before the match, pledges to support London’s Air Ambulance were broadcast to the stadium on digital screens, including footage from Saracens’ recent visit to our helipad. This was possible thanks to Allianz kindly donating advertising space on the day to our charity.
