Sword of Honour Award for Heroic UK Emergency Services
Friday 1st December 2017
The British Safety Council has celebrated the work of the emergency services at its annual awards luncheon in London. We were honoured to be presented with a Special Sword of Honour Award alongside representatives from the Metropolitan Police Service, Greater Manchester Police, London Ambulance Service, North West Ambulance Service, London Fire Brigade, British Transport Police and the RNLI.
The award was given in recognition of the emergency services’ heroism and dedication to protecting the safety & health of people living in the UK.
Our charity was represented at the awards, held in Drapers Hall earlier this month, by two of our operational team, Dr Chrissie Hymers and Pilot Andy Thomson.
At this year’s event, The British Safety Council presented 57 Sword of Honour and 15 Globe of Honour awards to businesses that showed exemplary management of health, safety and environmental risks.
Jonathan Jenkins, CEO of London’s Air Ambulance, said
"Our advanced trauma teams are called out to an average of five missions every day. Every second counts for these critically injured patients. Our quick response at these times is only possible through teamwork and working together with the other emergency services.
“It is therefore a great honour to be recognised alongside our emergency service colleagues by The British Safety Council, and we were very proud to receive this Special Sword of Honour Award,”
