Dr Tony Joy

Tony qualified in Medicine from the University of Sheffield in 2004, shortly after which he volunteered as a doctor providing immediate disaster relief in Sri Lanka following the Boxing Day tsunami. His interest in trauma and emergency care developed, and he gained training in a variety of key trauma-related specialties at The Royal LondonHospital including neurosurgery, vascular surgery and orthopaedic surgery before undertaking specialist Emergency Medicine training. In 2011/12 he was a Darzi Fellow in Clinical Leadership, and is particularly interested in human factors relating to clinical performance, team-work and patient safety. He is also passionate about health equality, illness and injury prevention, and improving the processes by which emergency healthcare is delivered.
